Most decent users (people capable of understanding and reading a network
capture). However I would make an argument against using the eventviewer as
I am sure this would add overhead to the development/porting between
unix-like and windows operating systems. I feel personally that a logfile
which will work well within both environment types would be less hassle.
Possibly a dialog box with "View Error Log" under one of the menu's (maybe
help?!) will make it even easier for people not comfortable with digging
into folders?

How many users know that the Event Viewer even exists?
