I just looked, and The Written Word has version 0.8.19 of Ethereal, so
don't use the package from sunfreeware.com, either.  0.8.12 is *really*
out of date.

The Written Word has binary packages not only for Ethereal, but for the
libraries on which it depends.  See

(which mentions neither the

	http://www.ethereal.com/distribution/solaris/

directory, which you shouldn't use, nor the sunfreeware.com site, which
you shouldn't use either).
