Yeah, the sunfreeware packages are somewhat old, so you don't want them.

For Solaris/SPARC, Ethereal 0.8.19 is available in binary form from The
Written Word - there are links to it from the Ethereal "binary
distributions" section.  They also have GLib and GTK+, as well as, I
think, libpcap.
