That'll work, although, at least with HFS+, I think command-F in the Finder could be faster (HFS+ is a bit unusual, in that it doesn't have B-trees for each directory, it has one giant B-tree, indexed by file name and parent directory, for the entire file system, so enumerating all the files in the file system can be done more quickly, and that might be what command-F in the Finder uses).
