When I try to run ethereal I get
command not found. I feel I have installed all needed dependent applications. I will try fink to see if that helps. I also I am not sure how to set the Display value. I think i need to use env like this env -i DISPLAY=0.0

Servando,
Exactly what error message do you receive when you try to start Ethereal?
Have you tried using fink to install Ethereal? There are a number of
packages it depends on which are not installed by default under OS X.
Using fink to install ethereal will automatically grab the packages it
depends on.
Fink works just like the Debian apt-get tool, so if you are familliar
with apt-get and dpkg, you will find Fink easy to use.

Once you install Ethereal, you will still need to set your DISPLAY
environment variable to output to the console:
DISPLAY=:0.0; export DISPLAY
(Assuming you are using bash or another Bourne-type shell).

Hello
I am trying to install ethereal on my Macintosh Powerbook G4. I am
running Mac OsX 10.3. I have tried using DarwinPorts and installed from
source code. I installed all the dependent application. The only thing
I can get to work is tethereal. Tethereal would be ok for now if I
could get it to read a captured file. I can not even get tethereal to
read a file; I captured using the -w option.
I need to use ethereal for my computer networking class my instructor
is of no help. He just told me to go buy a Dell.
