I was wondering if someone on this list can point me to some
research/whitepapers that would explain some key differences in
Architectures and pros and cons i.e. Cost, Performance, Scalability, and
Security of following Network Analysis/Packet capturing tools:

- Ethereal
- Network Associates Sniffer
- Etherpeek from Wildpackets
- Microsoft Network Monitor
- Novell LANalyzer
- Sun Microsystems snoop
- tcpdump and
- TracePlus from SSIT
