I agree with all but the removal of "user specified decodes" as I use it
rather regularly. Maybe we can hide it in an "expert mode".

| Subject: [Ethereal-dev] Top Menu Item: rename "Display" to
| "View" and move one to the left?
| Hi List!
| As I'm working on the toolbar en-/disable preference feature,
| I'm asking myself (and some of my friends have the same
| opinion), if the current menu structure is really intuitive
| for common users.
| The top menu items File/Edit/Capture/Tools/Help seems to be
| Ok, but the Display menu item is questionable IMHO
| (corresponding to the Gnome Human Interface Guidelines?).
| The following items are currently in the Display menu item:
| -Options
| -Match
| -Prepare
| -Colorize Display
| -Collapse All
| -Expand All
| -Show Packet in New window
| -User Specified Decodes
| I would suggest the following:
| Renaming the menu item "Display" to "View" and move it to the
| left, so it will look like: File/Edit/View/Capture/Tools/Help
| as that is somewhat more common to normal users, I think.
| And then change the following menu entries: Move "Colorize
| display" to the Edit menu item (as it's very similar to
| Display Filters, and I would expect it there!)
| After that, we could move the "Tools->Decode As" item to
| View, and remove the "User Specified Decodes" item completely.
| I don't want to start a flame war on this, but when I observe
| new Ethereal users, they are often confused using the menu.
| I'm interested, if this is only "my own problem", or if
| others are experience similar problems, and we should search
| for a good solution on this topic(s).
| Regards, ULFL
