I'm unsure if it's a good idea to put things for "all the display things" in different top level menus. But maybe this is a matter of personal belief.
As I have a deep thought about the menu at the weekend. Now I'm not sure, if the whole "Display Filter" and alike stuff should be in the "Edit" or in the "View" menu.
I will have a look at the "Human Interface Guidelines" (I had done this before, when implementing the toolbar), and will try to get a good idea.
