Mine's a PII 450, with a Number Nine Revolution IV-FP video card (for an
SGI 1600SW LCD display), 1600x1024, 24 bits/pixel.  I'm using
Accelerated-X on FreeBSD 3.4; I'll try it on XFree86 3.3.6 on Debian 2.2
to see if that makes a difference.

That is odd.  You might want to run that past the GTK+ folk to see if
they have any idea what might be happening.
