Hi,
Since 19 May 2021 the Freenode network has seen a "hostile takeover"
where previous volunteering admins lost access to the network. See also
this post by a former staff member, Fuchs:
https://fuchsnet.ch/privat/fn-resign-letter.txt
Since 15 June 2021, the original Freenode network has been destroyed
completely, see https://isfreenodedeadyet.com/
The Wireshark community has several places to ask questions, including a
Q&A site, a mailing list, and IRC channel according to
https://www.wireshark.org/faq.html#_where_can_i_get_help
There are also unofficial other places on Reddit and Discord.
Given the situation with Freenode, I encourage every IRC user to join
the #wireshark IRC channel on Libera Chat. Several other open-source
communities such as PostgreSQL, Gentoo, and Arch Linux have already
moved. See also https://libera.chat/news/welcome-to-libera-chat
For those wondering where I was, my IRC client died over a month ago due
to a faulty network interface. I have just restored it and am now in
process of moving to Libera Chat. Hope to see you there!
