Just ran into this with Development Release 1.99.7 using the OS X 10.6 and
later Intel 64-bit.dmg.

I asked the installer to use the /Applications dir in my home directory and it
changed the permissions for the whole ~/Applications dir, which did allow me to
have an A/B comparison of what it should be vs. what it ended up as.


After WireShark install:
drwx------  3 504  wheel  102 Jul 15 11:06 /Volumes/Zoidberg/Applications/

Before:
drwxrwxr-x+ 163 root  admin  5542 Jul 15 11:07 /Applications/
