As far as I can tell, most "projects" remain at Lua 5.2 (or even 5.1), if by
"projects" you mean applications using Lua as a scripting/plugin engine like
Wireshark does.
Also, Luajit remains at 5.2 (well, really 5.1 but there are patches for 5.2
compat). And its author Mike Pall has been adamant it's not going to support
5.3.
