I can't reproduce that in 1.12.3 with Gtk2 but I can reproduce it with Gtk3.

This is fixed in 1.12.3 (it was broken in
Ic1f0ee2b87cd573023ee8e966f06489b3b744dcf and fixed in
I4d470212d172f978c171e54ff7377ddc211817ac).

That's the case in both 1.12 and master.  (I usually use the keyboard to select
the suggestion rather than the mouse).
