Well, here's the dilemma:
A checksum of 0 is technically valid (OK, well I know that's the case for SCTP
I'm guessing it's also the case for the protocols you mention). If Wireshark
detects that the checksum (which happens to be 0) is invalid, don't you want to
know?
The chosen method for "fixing" this problem has been to turn off checksum
validation by default--because a vast majority of users aren't going to be
seeing (really) invalid checksums and those who do will probably know to enable
the preference.
If you have those checksums enabled then chances are it's because you ran
Ethereal/Wireshark back when those preferences were enabled by default.
Unfortunately we don't have a good, clean way to disable those old settings
without causing havoc.
