In descending order of preference:
1. "Please close Wireshark now to allow the update to continue."
2. "Please close Wireshark now, then click OK to continue [or: install]
the update."
3. "Please close Wireshark now; the update cannot be installed while
Wireshark is running."
4. "Please close Wireshark now. The update cannot replace files that are
currently opened [or: active/in use]."
On one hand, such messages should not be too technical. On the other hand, the
updater's audience can be expected to understand even #4. On the third hand,
the same audience can also be expected not to need such explanations.
Also, feel free to consider #3 and #4 without the passive voice, although I'm
not sure whether first-person pronouns ("we cannot install ...") are acceptable
here.
