I sometimes run into a situation where the "Edit Interface Settings" box has
Monitor mode selected but also greyed out. That's annoying since I can neither
start a capture nor unselect the monitor mode setting. Rescanning the interface
resets the monitor mode.
To reproduce this on linux, do
ifconfig wlan0 down
iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor
ifconfig wlan0 up
start wireshark, click on wlan0 to bring up "Edit Interface Settings". Monitor
mode should be selectable. Select it, press ok. Invoke "Edit Interface
Settings" again, monitor mode should be greyed out and selected :-(
This certainly depends on the wifi driver, I could reproduce it on several
machines.
