Just b/c the script and StartupItem 'work' on OS X 10.8 does not mean it's the
best practice method for running the script.
Startup Items have been discouraged since OS X *10.3*. See this Apple
developer article for clarification - http://bit.ly/ROUCYF.
The suggestion of using a launch daemon to trigger the script that performs the
necessary modifications to /dev/bpf* is an effort to modernize the way
Wireshark is installed.
I hope the inherent value of making the installer 'best practice' compliant is
fairly obvious.
