It's probably worse if you install 1.8.x atop 1.6.x or earlier version, as the
GIOP-based dissectors were made built-ins in 1.8, so that might mean you have
the old plugin and the new version; if the old plugins still work, you'll then
have *two* dissectors for the same protocols, which will cause Wireshark not to
start. This is happening in OS X - see bug 7401.
