Dell E6510 laptop with Win 7 64-bit.
Wireless NIC disabled via switch on side.
Installed Wireshark 1.6.0 64-bit.

Edit -> Preferences -> Capture -> Interfaces -> Edit

\Device\NPF_{748EDE56-BE94-4875-B454-D00D51CA626A} has "Description" as
"Microsoft"

In the registry I have:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkCards\17]
"ServiceName"="{748EDE56-BE94-4875-B454-D00D51CA626A}"
"Description"="Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN"

which is the only place I see a description stored. Hm, found a bunch more
under ControlSets, but none are "Microsoft".

The wired NIC's description was found okay.

Can test.
