--- Comment #6 from Tyson Key <tyson.key@xxxxxxxxx> 2009-06-22 17:12:43 PDT ---
I've just spent some more time with this, and it appears that I can reproduce
the issue with another ntar capture file that I created with the version of
dumpcap that is shipped with Wireshark 1.3.0-SVN-28809.
The new file contains a large number of packets (15110 packets/20MB capture
file) captured from a USB DVB-T adaptor, for what it's worth.
I'm lead to believe that there's some sort of bad interaction, or maybe issues
related to file/packet corruption somewhere, when handling large numbers of
these packets inside pcap-ng files, although it's a hunch after seeing another
capture file containing Linux mmapped USB packets load successfully. Sadly, I
am not familiar with the Wireshark codebase, so I don't know if my guess is
correct, or even if it helps with resolving the issue (or makes it worse).
If it helps, I could upload the largest capture file somewhere, and link to it
here, and upload the smaller capture file here.
