I just opened a bug on lipcap project explaining that there are two different
versions of libpcap and that the WinPCAP one supports rpcap.
I think that the security concern you are referring to is the "anydev"
interface detection mecanism on the rpcapd server which is supposed to allow
you to discover available remote device you may want to connect to for remote
packet capture... I think it might make sense on Windows because of the
complex string you have to enter to specify the actual device you want to
capture on. But, as a network administrator, I think that you should know in
advance on which interface you want to perform your packet capture!
Anyway, I'll figure out later why it didn't work well at configuration time. I
got it to work for now and that's important for me in the short term.
