Could there be a flag added, or an argument to -V to select the OSI
layer that is supposed to be traced? e.g. tethereal -V7 prints only
the application protocol trace, not TCP or IP or Ethernet.

That RFE is probably best sent upstream to ethereal-users@xxxxxxxxxxxx.

Note, however, that the description above assumes that there'd be a
non-controversial correspondence between protocols and OSI layers; I'm
not convinced that there is one.  (There might be controversial ones,
but they might annoy users who disagree with them.)
