Ethereal-users: [Ethereal-users] Why ist there such a gap between release 0.10.14 and 0.99.0 ?

When I look onto the news announcements at
http://www.ethereal.com/news/
I can see that v0.10.14 is released in 12.2005 and v0.99.0 in 04.2006.
Why ist such a gap within only 4 months ?

Could it be that these version numbers talk about different platforms or variants?
Is v0.99.0 really the successor of v.0.10.14 ?
