Hi,
First, is this the appropriate list to ask questions regarding WinTap32
driver ???
If not, please tell me where I should ask these questions.
I have been using coLinux with the WinTap32 driver and have had little
problems up until recently. I've installed a new development version of
coLinux-0.7.1 and a new WinTap32-8.3 driver. CoLinux says it finds the
ethernet interface correctly and indeed it gets the right MAC address I
set in the WinTap driver (BTW, I'm using WinXP and briding my real
ethernet device with the TAP32 driver uisng WinXP bridging).
The problem is I can not get any TCP/IP packets to/from the
WinXP/CoLinux machines. I tried debugging with Ethereal and as soon as
I bring up a list of interfaces, things magically start to work. When I
close the interfaces window the network traffic stops (pings between
WinXP and CoLinux).
Any ideas what is going on ???
My only guess is something to do with setting up one or more of the
interfaces in promiscuous mode (but it's only a wild guess).
Is this a bug in the coLinux drivers or the WinTap32 driver or possibly
both ????
I've asked on the colinux mailing list but, unusually, I have not had
any responses :(
Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated as I am very very lost
without my Linux VM :(
Thanks heaps,
Brendan.
