Well, having such a problem is a clear indication of a kernel mode problem, this usually relates to WinPcap and not Ethereal by itself.
You may ask the WinPcap developers of that, so they know that there's a problem and maybe they even know a way to help you.
Personal guesswork: From your list of nics, the "Nortel Contivity client virtual nic" seems to be uncommon. I would suggest that you try to disable this one. If that doesn't help you may even try to remove it completely.
