Hi,

I am using Ethereal to analyze TCP and UDP packets containing data conforming to our own internal protocols and it would be helpful to be able to add a packet dissector for these protocols.  The developer documentation gives some guidance on this, but I have a couple of questions:  I am using the Windows version of Ethereal and have the MS Visual Studio.NET 2003 compiler suite (I also have Borland C++Builder6).  The documentation states that it is not possible to build Ethereal from the sources using the MS compiler, but does this restriction also apply to plug-in dissectors?  There are also include files, libraries etc. which are needed to create a dissector.  Do I have to download the complete source code package in order to get these, or are they available in a convenient “packet dissectors” development kit?

Many thanks for your help.

Best regards,
