What type of network adapter are you capturing on?
If it's an Ethernet adapter, you might be on a switched network, in which case the only surprise would be that you're not seeing traffic whose *source* is the PC's IP address; see

If it's an 802.11 adapter, this might just be a result of 802.11 drivers that aren't particularly friendly towards packet capture:

Some Ethernet drivers might have that problem, too.
