Are you plugged into a switch, or into a "switching hub", or into a
dual-speed hub on which all the other machines are running at a
different speed?

Is there any traffic being sent by or to the machine running Ethereal on
the interface on which you're capturing (or on any interface, if you're
using the "any" interface on Linux)?
