Forgive me for being a bit simple here, but I'm not sure what you mean by this.

Please consider that this form works:

tethereal -i eth1 -f "net 10.1.1"

And this does not:

tethereal -i eth0 -f "net 10.1.1"

Both interfaces are capturing data (lots of data), and yet when I
apply a filter to eth0 nothing is displayed.  Even the simplest filter
that should display *some* packets yields no results.
