You might want to try the pre release, where some known errors are fixed.

Or try to remove the ASN1 plugin.

Subject: [Ethereal-users] Error on WIN XP
I installed ethereal on XP machine.
When i capture packets and then i press stop on the capture window, i
get a standard "Send Error to microsoft" error window.
When i try to load the saved file, its the same error again.
The error is something to do with the "adns_dll.dll"
Version of ethereal is :- 0.10.6.0
Can you tell me what the problem can be ?
