Since I can not use ethereal locally on Windows XP due to limitations in
Windows itself, what is the recommended way to use ethereal to capture
TNS packets?

I do have two computers networked on a Linksys router.
1. Win XP Pro (with Service Pack 1). Oracle 9i server.
2. Win XP Home on Laptop using wireless.

Can I use ethereal in this situation to capture TNS packets?

If this will not work, I can install Linux and Oracle 9i for Linux on
the first machine that has Win XP Pro installed. Could this work?

Or would using some virtual machine software like Boch's, Virtual PC, or
VMWare work to simulate a network?

I am guessing here since I haven't using virtual machine software
before. Is it even possible to simulate a network of computers on one
physical computer? If so, would Oracle 9i even work in such a senario?

Looking for ideas please.

Thanks,
Daniel
