You presumably updated to 0.10.6 from an earlier version of Ethereal, or
copied your preferences file from a version saved with an older version of
Ethereal, as that's *not* the default value for the ASN.1 file in 0.10.6.
Select Edit -> Preferences, open up the "Protocols" list, and select
"ASN1". The "ASN.1 type table file" setting will probably be
"/usr/local/share/ethereal/asn1/default.tt"; clear that field, click
"Save", and click "Apply".

You presumably didn't update from one of the versions of Ethereal that had
"/usr/local/share/ethereal/asn1/default.tt" as the default for that
preference.

That's probably just because the warning messages are more obvious in
Windows (in Windows, a console window is popped up to display the
messages; in UN*X, they're written to the standard output, and if the
standard output goes to some place not immediately visible, such as the
console when console output is discarded or sent only to special windows,
or is discarded, the message isn't particularly obvious).
