Microsoft has some sort of loopback adapter but i dont think anything
really supports/uses it.

All interesting "loopback" or local traffic for network services on
microsoft boxen are for DCE/RPC derived protocols and they all use the
LRPC mechanism as a local transport.

For this type of "loopback" local traffic between client and server,
the server actually creates a 0 pixel by 0 pixel window (which has a
windows messagebox attached to it) and pass the packets as weirdo
payload on those windows messages passed between the mailboxes.

there are no ip addresses, nothing, on these local interfaces where
all interesting traffic is passed on.
