*All* versions of Ethereal are for the GTK+ toolkit (the toolkit that
GNOME uses).

It probably contains just some additional stuff to integrate it into
KDE; it's still a GTK+ application, not a KDE application, so you still
need GTK+ (but not GNOME - Ethereal is a pure-GTK+ application, not a
GNOME application).
