I started to play the online game DarkSpace with my DSL line when I noticed quite fast that its laggy all the time. Using my ISDN connection I've got no game lags and whatsoever thus i thought my DSL line is bad or parameters like MTU and so on are not correct. I checked everything, a loop-ping on my first hop with 1400 bytes reported no packet loss and my MTU (1460), MSS (1420) and RWIN (62480) should be correct for my ISP. I also used another ISP to check if its a routing problem of the ISP but the problem remains. Now I used ethereal to log the connection and the first lags and look what I've got (just one slice of the log): No. Time Source Destination Protocol Info 1933 12.784637 209.198.154.19 80.139.45.149 TCP [TCP Dup ACK 1533#119] 9020 > 1082 [ACK] Seq=22130 Ack=1887 Win=65079 Len=0 TSV=12526852 TSER=5180 SLE=2919270843 SRE=2919270855 SLE=2919270699 SRE=2919270711 1934 12.796945 209.198.154.19 80.139.45.149 TCP [TCP Dup ACK 1533#120] 9020 > 1082 [ACK] Seq=22130 Ack=1887 Win=65079 Len=0 TSV=12526852 TSER=5180 SLE=2919270927 SRE=2919270939 SLE=2919270843 SRE=2919270855 1935 12.812963 209.198.154.19 80.139.45.149 TCP [TCP Dup ACK 1533#121] 9020 > 1082 [ACK] Seq=22130 Ack=1887 Win=65079 Len=0 TSV=12526853 TSER=5180 SLE=2919271071 SRE=2919271083 SLE=2919270927 SRE=2919270939 1936 12.824290 209.198.154.19 80.139.45.149 TCP 9020 > 1082 [PSH, ACK] Seq=22130 Ack=1899 Win=65067 Len=12 TSV=12526853 TSER=5201 1937 12.824497 80.139.45.149 209.198.154.19 TCP 1082 > 9020 [ACK] Seq=18282 Ack=22142 Win=61940 Len=1408 TSV=5219 TSER=12526853 1938 12.824518 80.139.45.149 209.198.154.19 TCP 1082 > 9020 [ACK] Seq=19690 Ack=22142 Win=61940 Len=1408 TSV=5219 TSER=12526853 1939 12.824535 80.139.45.149 209.198.154.19 TCP 1082 > 9020 [PSH, ACK] Seq=21098 Ack=22142 Win=61940 Len=497 TSV=5219 TSER=12526853 1940 12.837604 209.198.154.19 80.139.45.149 TCP 9020 > 1082 [ACK] Seq=22142 Ack=1899 Win=65067 Len=0 TSV=12526853 TSER=5201 SLE=2919271335 SRE=2919271347 SLE=2919271071 SRE=2919271083 1941 12.839580 80.139.45.149 209.198.154.19 TCP [TCP Retransmission] 1082 > 9020 [PSH, ACK] Seq=1899 Ack=22142 Win=61940 Len=12 TSV=5219 TSER=12526853 1942 12.839586 80.139.45.149 209.198.154.19 TCP [TCP Retransmission] 1082 > 9020 [PSH, ACK] Seq=2007 Ack=22142 Win=61940 Len=12 TSV=5219 TSER=12526853 1943 12.839588 80.139.45.149 209.198.154.19 TCP [TCP Retransmission] 1082 > 9020 [PSH, ACK] Seq=2127 Ack=22142 Win=61940 Len=12 TSV=5219 TSER=12526853 1944 12.839590 80.139.45.149 209.198.154.19 TCP [TCP Retransmission] 1082 > 9020 [PSH, ACK] Seq=2284 Ack=22142 Win=61940 Len=12 TSV=5219 TSER=12526853 1945 12.839592 80.139.45.149 209.198.154.19 TCP [TCP Retransmission] 1082 > 9020 [PSH, ACK] Seq=2392 Ack=22142 Win=61940 Len=12 TSV=5219 TSER=12526853 1946 12.839594 80.139.45.149 209.198.154.19 TCP [TCP Retransmission] 1082 > 9020 [PSH, ACK] Seq=2500 Ack=22142 Win=61940 Len=12 TSV=5219 TSER=12526853 Is it possible to tell out of this whats the real problem?
