Hello,

I have a Windows XP PC running Ethereal 0.10.3 and WinPcap 3.0.

Over PPPoE, the PC has been assigned the private IP address 1.1.1.4 which is later NATed on the DSL modem to a public address. The connection is working properly and the PC has access to the Internet.

If I run Ethereal on this PC without any filter on the Ethernet interface I can see the packets coming in and out. But if I configure any kind of filter on Ethereal, it does not capture any packets that are destined to or come from the PPPoE IP address.

I have tried very simple filters like the following with these results:

Filter: tcp
Result: Ethereal sees packets from or to other hosts that are connected to the same hub, but none from or to the PPPoE IP 1.1.1.4.

Filter: host 1.1.1.4
Result: Ethereal captures no packets at all.

Filter: "none"
Result: Ethereal captures packets from or to all IP addresses connected to the hub, including the PPPoE address of the PC (1.1.1.4)

Of course, I am sure that the PC is generating traffic when I run Ethereal, the problem being that Ethereal does not see it when a filter is applied.

From time to time I get the following message in a command window, and I do
not know if it has anything to do with the problem:

(ethereal.exe:1472): Gdk-WARNING **: [Invalid UTF-8] gdkdrawable-win32.c:blit_from_pixmap:798: BitBlt failed: Controlador no vlido.

Any idea?

Fran
