Well, I didn't get a reply to this email, but I did get a new version -
0.10.3 - which fixes this problem. - Thanks.

Subject: Problem with pre-compiled ethereal version 0.10.2 for windows

Hi,

I was sent two traces captured by tethereal on a linux machine, and I
examined them on my Windows XP machine. One of the traces was successfully
decoded, the other produced a fatal error in my ethereal. I attach the trace
file causing problems to this email.

The problem I see is that a dos-style window opens with the error message:
 file proto.c: line 2172: assertion failed: (idx >= 0 && idx <
num_tree_types)

I also see a windows dialogue box with the error:
  Unspecified fatal error encountered, aborting.

Finaly I get a dialogue box from the Visual C++ runtime library saying the
application has terminated in an unusual way.

I get this problem when trying to examine the second message in the trace (a
TCAP UDT message).

If someone can figure out what is wrong, and how to fix it, that would be
great.

Thanks,
/John.
