You were running Ethereal befor this, right?  And you have a ".ethereal"
directory in your home directory, and a "preferences" file in that
directory, which has a line

	asn1.file: /usr/share/ethereal/asn1/default.tt

right?

If so, then select "Edit" from the "Preferences" menu, open up the
"Protocols" list in the dialog box that pops up, select "ASN1", clear
the "ASN.1 type table file" field, click "Save", and click "OK" -
that'll make the setting be blank rather than
"/usr/share/ethereal/asn1/default.tt", and make the error go away.
