I can do analysis. What I have been looking for is capture of the packet
information and the protocols. Ethereal has given me much more than I
could have expected with other tools. I can scan 340 protocols with
almost 11000 protocol values. Right now I am trying to figure out how to
get at all this data through an API instead of having to parse out the
-V and -x switch parameters to the tethereal. I am writing all of this
information to a file for later processing. Is there some way I can get
at the data deciphered by the protocols into the tree structure easily
so that I can write it out in a format I can more easily use? Right now
parsing the output of the program is a kludge at best.

"Data from the network" in the sense of "raw captures", or "data from
the network" in the sense of "numbers produced by analysis of those
captures"?
