I was the one who reported the LDAP length issue for returned attribute
values that exceed the (ITEM_LABEL_LENGTH) value. I have observed that on
windows the the value will be a blank line within the protocol tree if the
field exceeds the limit and if you print the packet to a file the value will
show up but truncated. On both Linux and Sun the behavior is normal and as
expected, the value shows up in the protocol tree but tuncated. 

It would be advantageous for this length to be user selectable for certain
protocols (i.e. LDAP). I propose that this could be either a global
preference item or disector depend.

On packetyzer the value shows up just fine in the protocol tree, but
truncated though...
