I read the http://www.ethereal.com/faq.html#q5.22 I run Ethereal on windowXP. But cisco Aironet cards can be supported Linux and FreeBSD. Also, I have been tried WinDump. I can't succeed on cisco Aironet card neither. So, I can't capture a IP packet by Ethereal or WinDump on windowXP. Anyone knows how to capture IP packet with cisco Aironet card on windowXP ? Thanks in advance. > I am running Ethereal (version 0.9.5) on windowXP. > I can capture the packages in wired LAN. > But I can not capture on wireless LAN which is connected by cisco > systems 340 series wireless LAN adapter. > Capture option in Ethereal shows cisco interface. > When I select cisco interface, Ethereal can't capture any packet during > the web surfing. Are you doing the Web surfing on the machine running Ethereal, or on another machine? If you're doing the Web surfing on another machine (so that the traffic isn't sent from, or do, the machine with the Cisco adapter), that's unlikely to work unless the machine running Ethereal is running Linux or FreeBSD, and you have the right versions of the driver for the Cisco adapter: http://www.ethereal.com/faq.html#q5.22 If you're doing the Web surfing on the machine running Ethereal, that's probably a driver problem. Try using WinDump: http://windump.polito.it/ on the same adapter; if you still don't see the traffic, report that to the WinPcap developers: http://winpcap.polito.it/contact.htm although, if it's a driver problem, there's probably nothing they can do about it.
