I'm running Ethereal 0.8.9 on RH 7.2 (I'm going to upgrade it this
weekend). It is attached to a network that is only using 10.x.x.x
network numbers, and has not Internet connectivity. Whenever I do a
live capture, I see ping requests from the laptop running Ethereal to
192.168.0.x, 192.168.1.x, and 192.169.1.6. It will go through entire
192.168.0.x and 192.168.1.x subnets. The laptop has never even been
configured with a 192.168 network number.

It seems strange to me that it would be trying to ping those subnets
when they don't exist anywhere on the network. Does anyone know why it
would be doing this? Also, What would happen if I moved the laptop to a
network using 192.168 network numbers? Thanks for any help you can give
me.

Chris
