You may have missed a step...

...in the installation of GLib; that file isn't part of Ethereal, it's
part of GLib.

Either that, or, if you installed a binary GLib package, that package
was, for some unknown reason, built without gmodule support (SunOS 5.x
most definitely supports "dlopen()", so it most definitely supports
gmodule).
