That looks like a Bourne shell scripting error in
libtool.

Is libtool trying to check for the existence of
a file with the "-e" flag?

Bash has the -e and -f flags which do this, but Bourne shell only 
has -f.

I faced a similar shell scripting problem and error message
yesterday.
