Try grabbing one of the nightly source snapshots from CVS instead;
0.8.14 doesn't like it when the GTK headers aren't in the same place as
the GLib headers, but the current version in CVS should handle that
better (as "prefs.h"'s dependency on GTK has been removed).

Go to

	http://www.ethereal.com/distribution/nightly-builds/

and download the latest of those tarballs.

(Or, if you don't care if you have source, and are running Red Hat,
download a binary package from the Ethereal site; the Red Hat packages
are kept reasonably up-to-date.)
