Ok. I used libpcap-0.5.2 and ethereal-0.8.11 from source, then I made the
suggested changes (the second ones!) and rebuilt ethereal.
I am a little bit busy now, so there was no time for much testing.
But right now ppp-sniffing seems to work fine with the applied changes.
