Hi All,

I am having a frustrating problem opening gzipped tcpdump files of
large sizes. Here is the error:

natey@jism (~)-> ethereal -r tcpdump.000803-7.gz
ethereal in free(): warning: junk pointer, too high to make sense.
ethereal in free(): warning: junk pointer, too high to make sense.

GLib-ERROR **: could not allocate 65536 bytes
aborting...
zsh: abort (core dumped) ethereal -r tcpdump.000803-7.gz

natey@jism (~)-> ls -l tcpdump.000803-7.gz
-rw-r--r--  1 natey  natey  384862380 Aug  8 12:08 tcpdump.000803-7.gz

This file is about 1GB uncompressed...the machine is a Dual PIII 800
w/ 2GB RAM and 2GB swap.

natey@jism (~)-> uname -a
FreeBSD jism.liquidaudio.com 4.1-STABLE FreeBSD 4.1-STABLE

I really need to be able to open these large
files in ethereal...any help would be appreciated. Ethereal seems to
core dump at approx 500MB:

natey@jism (~)-> ls -l ethereal.core
-rw-------  1 natey  natey  537808896 Aug  8 12:33 ethereal.core

Thanks,

Nate
