I would really like to have MIT-Kerberos linked in with ethereal in
the w32 diastribution for a 1.0 release.

I cant build for w32 myself so i can not implement these changes or
test them, but since MIT do provide a build and shared libraries for
the w32 platform it should be possible?
Hmmm, when I look at the export restrictions at the download page http://web.mit.edu/kerberos/www/dist/index.html, I'm not really sure if I want to have that included into Ethereal!!!

As for gtk1, i use it but am fine with making it obsolete and not
distributing any gtk1 builds.
Do we need to remove the gtk1 code and defines from the source?
Probably not as the very first step.

But we certainly will add code which is only available in the 2.x (or even 3.x) versions, so in effect the 1.x support will be vanishing.

Pro: Removing GTK1 would remove the requirement of compat_macro.h and a lot of ugly #ifdef's in the gtk code. I guess at some place in time we must cut off GTK1 support anyway. Con: Currently, we can point our user's to the GTK1 version if GTK2 isn't working
