An interface to say "please display this tree" would be better, as it 
would be GUI-independent (work with GTK+ 1.2[.x], GTK+ 2.x, and other 
toolkits, and perhaps even let you write Tethereal code to display it 
as ASCII art).  That's essentially what a protocol tree is.
