I agree. In case we really want to care about the alleged problems of
openssl with gpl: Has someone had a look at the latest linux sources
(2.5.47)? I think they contain quite a few cryptographic funtions
(but haven't looked myself).

PS: I don't mind linking against openssl, and the only ones who could
 *legally* object to our using openssl are the authors of ethereal.
 In case there was someone who objects to the use, we could always 
 remove his code from ethereal.

I found out that "pro" means "instead of" (as in proconsul). Now I know
what proactive means.
